Between 3 - 4 years old - you CAN start introducing communication devices as a supplement to teach prelinguistic skills. Only use this if your child is non-verbal and at your therapist’s discretion.
4 years old and up, sit down and decide whether communication devices can be a long-term solution. It depends on what your child’s speech abilities are. Make sure everyone is on the same page before implementing.
